In 2022, Islay in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, was home to nine operational distilleries with additional facilities in development. Here we highlight three distilleries featured in our merchandise collection.

Ardbeg

Ardbeg originally began producing in 1815 but fell into disuse in the 1980’s and only sporadically produced spirit until Glenmorangie picked it up in 1997. The village settlement comprises approximately two dozen residents and sits on Islay’s southern coast.

Bowmore

Bowmore distillery was founded in 1779, the oldest on Islay. The surrounding village of roughly 700 inhabitants serves as the island’s largest settlement and administrative center.

Bruichladdich

Bruichladdich is known for its eponymous single malt, but also the home of The Botanist Gin. Located on the island’s western peninsula, the settlement of around 170 people developed around the distillery operations.
